"Eco-garden", "ecological methods", "biological methods", "ecological garden" … on internet forums and in magazines for gardeners. To them we can also add the "biodynamic method", which is distinguished by the use of the so-called biodynamic preparations.
Very often, gardeners believe that the use of, for example, nettle or horsetail manure in their gardens is a biodynamic method. This is a mistake.Real biodynamic preparations are prepared in specially prepared animal organs, such as cow horns or bladders, which are then buried into the soil at the appropriate phases of the moon.
Biodynamic preparations are prepared from several species of plants, cow and silica. They are only prepared on a few biodynamic farms. Biodynamic preparations are defined by a special nomenclature, valid practically all over the world. The numbering of preparations was created from 500 to 508.Initially it was a code name, but now it is a system commonly used all over the world.
Preparations are divided into compost preparations and those intended for spraying plants. Preparations for spraying soil and plants are cow cow preparation (500) and silica preparation (501). The compost preparations are: yarrow flowers (502), chamomile flowers (503), nettle stem (504), oak bark (505), dandelion flowers (506), valerian juice and flowers (507). Cow preparation (500) works through soil life and the root sphere of plants.Spraying with this agent is carried out in the afternoon.
Silica preparation (501) stimulates the assimilation, growth and maturation processes, thanks to which it promotes the formation of plant substances. Increases the natural resistance to diseases and pests. The treatment must be performed at dawn. The remaining preparations (502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 507) from the six medicinal plants are used as an additive to compost, manure, liquid manure and slurry.Their task is to increase the activity of microorganisms that break down the organic substance. Thanks to them, plants can more intensively perceive cosmic forces through prepared compost.
Preparing preparations for direct application requires some time and, of course, knowledge. The agent is dissolved in water, and then the solution is mixed with a birch broom with an elderberry shaft.
The biodynamic method requires the gardener to know about plants, animals and the whole world around him in order to skillfully use all these factors to his advantage.Following the recommendations of the biodynamic calendar may be an introduction to the biodynamic method in plant cultivation. As a curiosity, it can be added that the founder of biodynamic agriculture, Rudolf Steiner, gave his first lectures on the "Spiritual foundations of agricultural renewal" in 1924 in Kobierzyce near Wrocław.
