My garden must never be emptybeetrootI sow both beetroot and leafy beets every year -chardThey don't cause me much trouble in cultivation, and they are rich in vitamins and minerals. They are satisfied with the soil of average quality - preferably one in the second year after the manure. If it was too heavily nourished, the vegetables would lose their firmness and flavor.
Beetsspherical variety, with a shorter growing season, I sow in April. Then I collect them over the summer. In turn, at the beginning of June it is time forchardand the late varietyred beet(with elongated root). Both of these species have the same cultivation requirements. Sown in rows every 30 cm, lightly covered with soil and watered abundantly, they germinate after about 2 weeks. I wait for them to grow up a little and start interrupting them. Then I leave one plant every 10 cm. I cook the first borscht from the broken and unnecessary beetroots on the flower bed. Then I look at them when they need to be weeded or watered. These vegetables are drought-resistant, but you should moisten them a little during the summer heat.
ChardI collect as needed. I poke the two outer leaves, taking care not to damage the growth cone. Then the plant produces new leaves and becomes more mature. However, the main beet harvesting does not take place until October.
