Uncut shrubs produce small, inconspicuous flowers in April and May. Note: Boxwood leaves are poisonous!
Boxwood feels best in semi-shaded and shaded positions. It can also be grown in sunny places, provided that it is regularly and abundantly irrigated.Plants are planted in good quality soil for potted plants.
Evergreen shrubs should be watered moderately, but the root ball should never be left waterless for a long time.
In March, bushes are fed with a special, long-lasting liquid fertilizer for boxwood. In the remaining months of the year, the bushes do not need to be supplied with power.
Boxwood is extremely resistant to cutting. For vigorous branching, shoots should be shortened every four weeks from April to September.
Boxwood perfectly tolerates temperature drops and can be kept on the terrace in winter.Bushes should be shaded: either by covering them with non-woven fabric, or by shifting them to the shade.Water the bushes on frostless days, otherwise they may dry out. We wrap the pot with bubble foil and jute.
The most resistant to low temperatures are the following boxwood varieties: 'Handsworthiensis', 'Blauer Heinz' and 'Herrehausen'.
