I plant peaches in the spring (Recipe for the garden)

Table of contents

I have a plot of land in Nowa Bukówka in the Starachowice poviat.I grow several dozen peaches on it with positive results.I also planted single nectarine and apricot trees. Apricot has never been fruitful for me. It blooms a little earlier than the peach. In our climate, flowers or fruit freeze immediately after setting. But nectarines grow big and tasty.

When harvesting fruit, however, I have to race against wasps and hornets. I have lost this unequal fight against insects several times, so now I mainly focus on growing peaches. The peel of their fruit is covered with hairs, which effectively discourages my rivals and does not bother me.

1.If we are going to plant a new tree, let's do it in spring.Fall date is not an option, because peaches are sensitive to frost and young plants might not survive the winters.Shorten the shoots of the seedlings by half, leaving 4 main ones, from which the branches will grow back.

2.In the first year, nothing can grow on the area of 2 m² around the tree. After each season, we increase the acreage so that after 4 years the peach grows to 8 m².

3.We spray against leaf curl twice a year. In autumn we use Miedzian, and in spring - Sylit with a threefold increase in percentage.

4.Cutting is extremely important. We do them in the spring.Stems up to 4 mm in diameter should be completely cut. If they are larger, cut one branch after the other eyelet, and leave the next one without shortening, unless it grows over 40 cm.Then cut the excess off as well.

5.When the fruit reaches the size of a hazelnut, cut it off. We leave from 4 to 8 pieces.

6.After harvesting, cut the shoots on which the fruit grew.At this time, we also cut the so-called rushes (wolves).

7.Keep a black fallow under the tree. No other plants should be planted near it.

8.After each rain, we dig or rake the ground. We avoid frequent watering of the peach, otherwise we will have sour fruit. When a long drought lasts, the tree can be watered. However, remember not to do it more than three times a year. On the second day after the treatment, rake the soil well to create an insulating layer.

9.We try to adjust the shape of the tree to the cup. We will do this by systematically cutting.

10 . We should not graft several varieties on one trunk.

Planting fruit trees

The best time to plant fruit trees is autumn.Species that are less resistant to frost, such as peach and apricot, are better planted in spring. Just remember to make it before the plants start to develop buds. Seedlings can be bare-rooted or in containers. When choosing them, pay attention to the fact that the roots are well developed, untangled and dry. Those in the containers should not overgrow it.
