The corn jumper (Zyginidia scutellaris) is an insect, more precisely a corn jumper. It occurs in Asia and its eastern neighbors. Already in the years 2000-2001, it appeared in Poland, where initially there were noticeable minor damages. In August last year, on the other hand, numerous cases of the corn jumper, which damaged the plants, were found. They were characterized by white spots, often resembling a star. The damage caused by the sap suction was disastrous, leading to a reduction in yields.
It is not subject to compulsory control - research on the transmission of pathogens to the crop is still ongoing. This bug can be fought with insecticides, but it is still in the preparatory phase, as the preparations available in Poland have not yet been approved. There is also an ecological solution - natural enemies such as bugbugs feed on them. In this way, they can significantly reduce the population of the corn jumper.
